Crownpoint // Navajo Nation Action Build

Site Description

Two hours from Albuquerque in the desert mountains of the Navajo Nation Reservation, lies the struggling community of Crownpoint. Houses are deteriorating and lack many of the amenities that Americans take for granted. With no running water, many elderly residents are forced to use out houses, which at their age, is a difficult task.

But despite this extreme poverty, there is a beautiful presence to the community of Crownpoint. Many of its residents embrace their rich history and traditions, while also carrying a strong faith in Christ. They want to see an end to the poverty that plagues their community, but simply lack the resources to do so.

To this end, Next Step Ministries has partnered with local leaders to help rebuild Crownpoint. You will have the opportunity to make much-needed repairs to existing homes, such as roofing, siding, drywall, stucco, flooring, ramps and other projects. Through this important physical labor, you will show the Navajo Nation how much we—and more importantly, God—loves and cares for them.

In addition to the challenging work projects, you will have the chance to spend time with the residents and learn about life on the reservation. You will leave with a better understanding of Navajo Nation history and the problems facing their people.

Spend your last day in Crownpoint participating in community outreach and experiencing the terrain by swimming and hiking at Bluewater State Park.

Be the hands and feet of God by humbly serving the Navajo Nation.
