Position Description:
You will have the opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills as you oversee the various adventure elements that students embark on during a Next Step Adventure Trip. These trips are meant to allow students to experience the beauty and magnitude of God’s creation while serving the community in tangible ways. You will be the point person for the various activities the student groups will take part in throughout their week-long trip. This can include hiking local trails, fishing, volunteering at local organizations, and more. You will serve as the main contact between the student group leaders and the activity leaders (park rangers, volunteer coordinators, etc.) You will grow in communication skills as you plan the activity schedule for the groups and share expectations with both parties- the students and the activity leaders. You will ensure student groups have a good understanding of the purpose behind each adventure and service activity and that they have all they need to succeed. Additionally, you will oversee 2 Adventure Supervisors who will each be responsible for joining the students on these activities and being the point person on the ground. You will see students’ lives changed as they grow into a deeper understanding of God through serving the community and seeing God’s creation during the day and experiencing powerful programming each night.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee schedule of adventure and service activities
- Serve as the point of contact for all adventure and service activity organizations
- Communicate plans and expectations effectively with youth leaders
- Work with the Team Leader to ensure student groups’ needs are met
- Responsible for equipping Adventure Supervisor’s and other teammates are prepared to lead activities
- Support your team in the other elements of the trip
Qualifications:
- Must be a believer in Jesus Christ and hold to Next Step’s Statement of Faith
- Experience working in an outdoor adventure setting
- Ability to communicate effectively with various parties
- Experience working with youth
- Previous mission or ministry experience preferred
