Job Position

As Community Coordinator you will have the opportunity to facilitate long-term relationships between incoming mission teams as well as the Summer Staff team, with local community partnerships. Each week, you will work directly with various organizations, nonprofits, and local churches to coordinate community engagement and development activities. Your job is to create a healthy and dynamic balance between the experience each mission team has in the community (opportunity for increased awareness, learning, and cultural engagement), with standards of empowerment, sustainability and local leadership within the community.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of 8 – 10 other Summer Staff members to effectively facilitate weeklong mission trips.
  • Maintain strong contact and develop thriving relationships with community leaders and local partnerships throughout the duration of the summer.
  • Work with the Team Leader and incoming Youth Leaders to coordinate weekly involvement and engagement with the community.
  • Facilitate student involvement and integration within partnering organizations each week.
  • Advocate for the community over the course of the summer in the way the Summer Staff and mission teams talk, interact, and engage with the community.
  • Integrate Christian Community Development principals into the workweek.
  • Enhance effectiveness of short-term mission work (locally-led projects, empowerment, sustainability).
  • Facilitate daily prayer for the community amongst the Summer Staff and incoming youth groups.
  • Lead Community Development Conversations with students each night of the mission trips.
  • Participate alongside students at work projects daily.
  • Participate in daily devos and nightly worship.

Position Requirements

  • Previous Missions Experience
  • Previous Leadership Experience
  • Previous Next Step Experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience or Education in Community Development
  • CPR Certification Required
