As Next Step commits to projects that make a REAL impact in a community; look no further than the Next Step Recovery House in Montego Bay, Jamaica. A dream that the Lord laid on the hearts of Next Step many years ago is ready to be a reality with the help of your students.

Montego Bay, Jamaica is home to sandy white beaches and flashy tourism, however amongst the resorts and lights lay broken villages, starving children and struggling families. A major issue plaguing many Jamaicans is alcohol and drug abuse; and for many, there is no hope in site.

Next Step has teamed up with Robert Ingraham, a Midwest Minister, who is committed to providing Jamaicans with a consistent and Christ-centered recovery program. Robert has a tremendous spirit-lead track record of successful recovery programs here in the United States. It is Robert’s goal to be able to take his program and minister to hundreds of Jamaicans struggling with a wide variety of addictions.

It is our goal to build Robert and this ministry a facility to meet this goal. Starting in 2011, students will break ground on building the Next Step Recovery House; a three story structure that will serve as a ministry base for Robert, as well as bunk house for future mission teams and students.

Students will be getting down and dirty with some heavy duty construction including foundation work, block and cement work, digging and landscaping. Students will be led by our team of construction leaders and will have a great week of hard work and fellowship in the Jamaican sun.

Students may also work on additional projects for residents in need around the area. These projects will include home repairs, additions and re-builds.

On their free day, students have the opportunity to go to Dunn's River Falls and climb the beautiful waterfalls and relax in the crystal clear ocean - an unforgettable experience.
