Position Description:

The Construction Project Manager (CPM) is responsible for ensuring the success of all construction projects for the summer. As CPM you will lead the construction team and hundreds of volunteers in substantial and meaningful service projects, partnering with local leaders and organizations to meet community needs. You will schedule, coordinate, and supervise all work projects and prepare your construction team with the technical skills required to run work sites smoothly. You will use hands-on management to develop your construction skills and experience as a leader, teacher, problem solver, and teammate. With training and support from a Next Step Senior Project Manager, you will be challenged and rewarded as you serve those around you and are poured into by your peers and leaders this summer to develop spiritually, personally, and professionally.

 

Pre-Summer Responsibilities:

  • Mandatory Construction Project Manager Training - Madison, WI: May 17 – 19, 2024
  • Mandatory Pre-Summer Development: An online training series focused on technical skills and leadership training in order to prepare you for a summer with Next Step

Summer Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate manpower, material, tools and logistics for worksites to run smoothly
  • Learn project specific construction methods & techniques through NSM provided resources
  • Create material estimates to procure required materials accurately and within a given budget
  • Ensure weekly project progress is on-track with budget & completion targets
  • Understand and communicate each project’s purpose & requirements clearly
  • Train, equip, and support your Next Step team to lead their construction site with excellence
  • Work with site leaders to ensure Procore status updates are completed daily
  • Communicate regularly with volunteer leaders and community members to ensure Next Step meets needs & exceeds expectations
  • Lead & serve with excellence on all worksites alongside volunteers & team members 
  • Implement Next Step Safety Standards
  • Preserve the quality of Next Step power tools, equipment and vehicles
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the Next Step Senior Project Manager
  • Contribute beyond your construction role in all areas of mission trips & evening programming

 Qualifications:

  • Must believe and follow Jesus Christ and hold to Next Step Ministries’ Statement of Faith
  • Leadership experience required
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Obtaining a BS in Construction Management or related field preferred but not required
  • Construction field and/or worksite management experience preferred but not required
  • Missions experience preferred but not required
