Position Description:
As the Kitchen Manager, you will oversee all aspects of meal planning, preparation, and food operations for the mission trip. You will create a welcoming dining experience by developing sustainable systems for food ordering, inventory management, meal preparation, and kitchen organization. Through servant leadership, you’ll equip students and teammates to participate in kitchen responsibilities while ensuring meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and with excellence. This position provides an opportunity to develop leadership, organization, and hospitality skills while serving alongside students and community members during daily work projects and mission activities.
Responsibilities:
- Plan weekly meals and coordinate food ordering and grocery shopping
- Maintain accurate food inventory and track usage throughout the trip
- Manage food supplies and kitchen-related resources
- Partner with the Team Leader to create and maintain the food budget
- Oversee breakfast and dinner preparation
- Coordinate brown bag lunch preparation and distribution
- Establish kitchen systems and schedules for student participants
- Train and delegate kitchen responsibilities to students and teammates
- Maintain food safety, cleanliness, and organization standards
- Provide a welcoming and hospitable dining environment
- Lead and participate alongside students at work projects daily
- Create a fun, safe, and engaging work site atmosphere for students
- Participate in daily devotions and nightly worship
- Contribute as a team player in all aspects of mission trip facilitation
Qualifications:
- Must be a believer in Jesus Christ and hold to Next Step’s Statement of Faith
- Previous mission experience preferred
- Previous leadership experience preferred
- Experience with cooking, food service, or meal planning preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage budgets, spreadsheets, and inventories
- Ability to train and encourage participants
- Heart of hospitality and servant leadership
