Position Description:

You will have the opportunity to lead a team of 6-8 Summer Staff and oversee nine weeks of mission trips. You will be the contact point and support for your team; encouraging them and challenging them to grow daily through your leadership. You will be responsible for working with youth leaders prior to their arrival on site. You will also have the opportunity to build and develop relationships with community members. A Team Leader’s ultimate responsibility is to ensure the trip runs smoothly and each church has the best trip possible, while supporting your teammates to perform their roles successfully. 

Pre-Summer Responsibilities:

  • Pre Summer Development Program - brief readings, encouragement calls, etc.
  • Mandatory Team Leader Training in Madison, WI: May 16 – 18, 2025

 

Summer Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the weekly mission trips
  • Maintain contact with youth leaders prior to their trip
  • Practice clear communication with Summer Staff, youth leaders, and community members
  • Lead and empower teammates in their roles through servant leadership 
  • Facilitate a Christ-centered team culture
  • Work with youth leaders to create crew assignments
  • Execute excellent customer service with youth leaders
  • Manage and maintain a budget with integrity
  • Submit weekly expense reports
  • Build and maintain healthy relationships with community members and church partners
  • Lead and participate alongside students at work projects daily
  • Participate in daily devos and nightly worship

Qualifications:

  • Must be a believer in Jesus Christ and hold to Next Step's statement of faith
  • Previous mission experience
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Previous Next Step experience preferred but not required
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Must be fluent in Spanish (Guatemala location only)
